About
grafted is a craft-led architecture practice based in Walthamstow, East London.
They aim to bridge the gap between design and construction, using digital fabrication and survey techniques to empower small-scale projects to be more ambitious.
grafted won an RIBA East Award for their first design and build project, Cast Corbel House, a contemporary extension celebrated for its unique undulating pattern of red-pigmented precast concrete panels, hand made by the team.
The practice has gone on to use their first-hand knowledge of joinery and pre-cast fabrication to inform the design of subsequent projects.
Lemma Redda
Lemma is grafted’s design director.
He built over 15 years’ experience working at design-led architecture practices including DSDHA, MICA, Piercy & Co. and Hugh Broughton Architects before co-founding grafted.
He maintained a strong connection to physical and digital craft through art installations and exhibitions in the UK and Denmark.
Keen to contribute his skills to maintaining high standards of design in the built environment, Lemma is an active member of Design Review Panels in both Southwark and his home borough of Waltham Forest.
