Phillimore Gardens
Phillimore Gardens
Kensal Rise, London
A holistic remodelling of an interwar semi-detached house in north-west London.
Internally, joinery embodies both function and beauty. Glazed sliding doors lead from the kitchen/dining to the newly-formed side extension where provision of a snug, pantry, utility and garage/plant space supports the demands of family life.
The proposals for the rear exterior offer a contemporary take on the local vernacular. Stack bond brickwork is used in between brick piers in reference to the half-timber/infill aesthetic found on houses in the area.
Sustainability is considered throughout, with splayed openings on the loft windows to manage solar gain and the installation of a concealed Air Source Heat Pump.
